More for Music is built around two things that belong together: a directory and a set of stories.
The directory profiles music organisations from across the UK — large and small, well-known and less so — each with a dedicated page describing their work, their people and their impact. Crucially, every profile includes something specific: a current need, a donation target, a volunteer opportunity, or a campaign that deserves to be shared. The aim is not simply to raise awareness, but to make it easy to act.
The stories go deeper. Interviews with founders and leaders, accounts of projects that have changed lives, and commentary on the issues shaping music in the UK today. Together, the directory and the stories build a picture of a sector that is creative, resilient, and in need of support.
More for Music was founded by James Turnbull, a professional oboist based in London. Through years performing, teaching and working in the music sector, including as Chair of the British Double Reed Society, James saw the vital work music organisations across the UK were doing. More for Music grew from a simple conviction: they deserve to be seen, heard and valued by more people.
More for Music is editorially independent. No organisation pays to be featured, and no commercial considerations influence which organisations appear on this site. Organisations are selected because their work is genuine, evidenced, and deserving of a wider audience.
